One day Kirk Douglas was driving his car toward Palm Springs, California, and he found a sailor who was asking for a ride. He stopped and the sailor got in the car, looked at him and said: 'Hey, do you know who you are?'
'That's a really good question' Kirk replied.
That is a question we all should ask ourselves.
Worms It was the first day of Biology for a group of teenagers and the professor had arranged a short demonstration for the class. He took a worm and dropped it into a glass of water and the worm wriggled about in the water. Then he took a second worm and dropped it into a glass of alcohol and the worm immediately died. The professor asked the students if anyone knew what the point of the demonstration was.A boy raised his hand and said, "You're showing us that if we drink alcohol, we won't have worms".----------------Two brothersTwo brothers jointly owned a business and both were wise in worldly ways. While dying, one brother told to the other that he will have to put half of their combined wealth into the grave with the casket. The brother reluntantly agreed. In time his brother died. At the graveside ceremony the living brother wrote a check for half of their assets and paced it in the casket and says, "Here is your half".
The Earthquake
Last february 26th, I went to bed exhausted a little bit later than usual, and I fell asleep almost immediately, but suddenly I movement woke me up, and the first thing I thought was that I could get hurt by the things on my shelf, so I stood on my bed and I tried to hold all the things that could get off the shelf.
When the movement stopped, I heard my cousin, he was asking me if I was O.K. and he told me to leave my room and to go to where everybody else was.
Until this moment, I have not realized how serious had been the earthquake, but when I heard on the radio that the epicenter had been between the 7th and 8th Regions I felt like my heart would stopped beating, it was a terrible feeling, and I started to call my family, because my mom, my dad and my little brother live in Curicó and I did not know if they were fine, or if something could have happened to them, but it was impossible for me to call them because all phone lines were collapsed.
I was the entire night trying to phone them or anyone else who could tell me how they were, but nothing happened until about 8 o’clock in the morning, when I got a call from a cousin and I asked him to try to call my mom because I had had no success at that. A moment later he called me back to tell me they all were perfectly fine and I should not worry any more.
After that, I was able to sleep a little but I was still very worried about them. And a couple of hours later, my mom called me and then I felt much better, because I had talked to her.
That was the most stressful and lurid moment I have ever lived.
